Goldendoodles are known for their intelligence, outgoing, friendly nature and loving personalities. Whatever your political persuasion, it seems appropriate that the First Dog is a Goldendoodle. Perfect for simply providing companionship for your family, bear in mind that the Goldendoodle can also easily be trained for loftier responsibilities. With the proper instruction the benefits of owning a Goldendoodle can be shared with people outside your family.

Before we get to the ways that Goldenddoodles are particularly special, let’s look at the general benefits of dog ownership (which are magnified when you have a doodle). The following post lists a handful of advantages among the scores that exist:

Seven brilliant benefits of owning a dog

Not only can dogs lower your stress levels and blood pressure, it’s also believed they can speed up recovery time from illness. Discover even more fascinating facts…

Mutual companionship is one of the main reasons for owning a dog but sharing your life with one could also be among the best things you do for your and your children’s health and well-being. Here are seven life-enhancing benefits of dog ownership.

  1. Lower stress

Who hasn’t felt their anxiety fade when rhythmically stroking a dog? (And your pet will probably enjoy the attention too.) While friends and family mean well, human relationships can bring stress. If you are considering getting a dog, a Goldendoodle should be at the top of your list. Having one is truly a life-changing experience in all the best ways. The following post is the moving story of how one Goldendoodle transformed the lives of his family:

Goldendoodle service dog protects Mich. woman from seizures

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — When you enter Kiara Williamson’s Southfield home the first thing she asks you to do is pray for her.

The 23-year-old has cerebral palsy and cri du chat, a chromosomal disorder, and a seizure disorder. She often experiences two to 45 seizures per day and needs constant attention. Kiara, whose dad is a minister, believes in the power of prayer. And the family has found an answer to some of those prayers — a 60-pound dog.

Diego, a golden doodle, is a specially trained service animal that can sense when Kiara is about to have a seizure and protect her from harm. The cuddly canine has transformed the family’s life, said Kiara’s parents, the Rev. Daniel and Anitra Williamson.

When Kiara’s seizures start and she starts to bite or slap herself, Diego will nudge her, wedging his face between hers so he takes the blow. Read more at Arca Max…

As you see, Diego has made a huge difference in the Williamson’s lives, helping them cope with the immense health challenges they face on a daily basis. An answered prayer, indeed.

Pet therapy is a significant benefit that dogs can provide. Just their presence can help us heal from injury and illness and raise our spirits when it’s needed most. This piece takes a closer look at a specific example of pet therapy, as provided by Goldendoodle service dog Harley:

Who Benefits From Pet Therapy?

If someone asked you that question — who benefits from pet therapy?

What would your answer be?

Truth be told, I just found that out.

Close to noon on any given Tuesday Harley and I can be seen rushing from the parking garage heading into the South entrance of the MUSC Children’s Hospital…

That’s his pet therapy shift, 12-2pm every Tuesday for the next 12 months. #aworkingdoodle

In addition to health problems, people in hospitals deal with —

  • pain
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • fatigue

Harley’s job as a therapy dog is to help improve the patients’ mental, social, and emotional functions. Read more at Groovy Goldendoodles…

Can you imagine how amazing it feels for both Harley and his owner to impact people’s lives the way they do? What a source of fulfillment it must be. And just think, if you’re willing to invest the time in training your Goldendoodle, you can have the same sense of gratification.
